Easter Sunday in Camp Creek

I’m grateful to have seen another Easter Sunday. This Easter Sunday is the 3rd year anniversary of the fatal 2009 Camp Creek car accident that hurt so many people. I didn’t know the families but I think about them every year. On that day, my son & I were trying to turn on Camp Creek Pkwy when the accident occurred. If I had turned a minute earlier, I wouldn’t be telling this story. In addition to that, one of the cars in flames was the same Mercedes make, model & color of my car which we were watching in this accident. No doubt, it really could have been us. I laid awake many nights thanking God for my life & asking him to place upon me what he was trying to teach me in that moment. I thought about that beautiful family coming home from church on Easter Sunday & wondered what was her dreams, their ambitions & even her fears. I prayed that she lived her dreams, fulfilled her ambitions & forgot her fears. God told me that he wanted to use me to deliver this testimony because of  his purpose for my life. He had to shake me, rearrange my thoughts for that day, cancel my plans for the rest of the day & send an urgent message through someone like me. A  single mom from a single parent household who has never had a head start in any race but who understands the race isn’t given to the swift nor to the strong but to the one that endures to the end. As I grow, I realize inspiring others is much bigger than my gift to sing but it is to inspire women to live their dreams, fulfill their ambitions & forget their fears today because tomorrow that mission could be impossible.

Whitney Houston’s Legacy

Today is Whitney Houston’s celebration ceremony. Today I’m still so full of thoughts yet so aware that every moment is so significant.  Timing is so relevant to our destiny. A few weeks ago I wrote a quote “Time doesn’t owe us anything. We should be thankful some days we get back change”. We should ask ourselves what are we doing with the present moments that are given to us? I pray everyday I can inspire one person to believe in themselves & maybe they will convince someone else to believe. This is how Whitney Houston’s music inspired me. I became infected by the contagious inspiration in her voice, her words & melodies. This is Whitney’s legacy. You will always be the voice of inspiration to me.

Merry Christmas

I am feeling so blessed right now on this 2011 Christmas day. I am grateful for this gift of life. God woke me up this morning with a word. God  speaks to me so eloquently & sometimes poetically.  I believe God allows the universe to whisper to me in words of love & legacy.  This relationship is so deep. It’s beyond me….

Women’s Equality Day

Women’s Equality Day – August 26, 2011

Interesting as I looked at the above title I noticed WED, which is also synonymous with “to wed or to marry” which means to unite, bind or blend. Also Wednesday aka (Wed) the middle of the week, which is associated with the color green according to Wikipedia. The color green is also associated with regeneration, fertility & rebirth. The color green just happens to be the color that the First Lady Michelle Obama wore during the inauguration and she is ironically one of the most influential women in the article mentioned below. Also in the middle of all this is equality or equivalency. As I reflect on this day I’m grateful for unity, justice, regeneration & of course the color green! Maybe the stars aligned it this way or maybe they whispered it to the wind. Women were given the right to vote in the U.S. in 1920. However, an amendment was first introduced to the constitution as early as 1878. As I think about women who suffered for the sake of equality, I see a streak of green in the rainbow! Thank you for your spoken & unspoken harmony to my voice. Wow & how ironic is it that I used the color green for my blog. That’s incredibly harmonic!
